Nihonbashi Bridge
Nihonbashi, Tokyo
Nihonbashi Bridge is the 1911 double-arched stone bridge that marks kilometre zero of Japan's national highway network, the successor to the wooden Edo-period bridge from which all roads were measured from 1603. Bronze kirin and lion statues guard it under the elevated expressway, which is slowly being moved underground.
