Koya is a loud, packed Shanghai-style Chinese izakaya midway between Hatagaya and Sasazuka. Locals love it for the thick handmade gyoza, the long dim sum list and big plates to share.

Order the fried gyoza first. They're huge and chewy in the right way. About an 8 minute walk from Hatagaya station, north of Koshu Kaido.

One stop over, where the locals drink

Hatagaya is the next stop from Sasazuka, and for Daniel it's more or less an extension of home. Koya does the kind of quiet, precise food that never makes it onto lists. Want to eat where Tokyo residents eat? This is the page.
