Shimokitazawa Reload is the new low-rise development along the rail line that somehow got it right: a wine stand, a standing bar, design shops and Ogawa Coffee Laboratory, all in white boxes that don't fight the neighbourhood.

If you chose Nakameguro on day three, or chose Shimokitazawa and want it again, swap the Yanaka evening for a full second Shimokita session. Keep the Roppongi morning, then take the Chiyoda line to Yoyogi-Uehara and the Odakyu line two stops west. Arrive mid-afternoon for Shimokitazawa Reload, the low-rise development along the tracks that got the neighbourhood right, and a coffee flight at Ogawa there. Eat at Wine Laundry, charcoal yakitori paired with natural wine in a room the size of a kitchen, then end at whichever of the Shimokitazawa live venues has a band on. Shelter and Garage are the institutions. There's a version of this neighbourhood that only shows itself after 9pm, and this is the night to meet it.
For something newer, Shimokitazawa Reload is the low-rise development built along the old track bed after the Odakyu line went underground. It's the rare redevelopment that got the scale right.
