Shibamata Taishakuten is old shitamachi Tokyo at the city's eastern edge: a temple covered in astonishing wood carvings, at the end of a retro shopping street selling rice crackers and dango. It's famous as the home of the Tora-san films, and it's still low-key next to Asakusa.
