Jiyu Gakuen Myonichikan
Ikebukuro, Tokyo
Jiyu Gakuen Myonichikan is a long, low school building designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and finished in 1921 for the newly founded Jiyu Gakuen girls' school, now an Important Cultural Property open to visitors. Geometric wooden window frames fill the double-height hall, and the whole complex sits on a lawn in the calm streets south of Ikebukuro's west side.
